ok everyone, heres the new basking area me and OH built.its waiting on the basking lights wich we will pick up on friday.other than that, its good to go!
hope you enjoy the pics !
it takes alot of wood, cutting, screws and some perspex, wich is quite expensive, but very worth it
ok. OH started by cutting and measuring all the framework:-
just a quick frame test,to make sure were going in the right direction lol
measuring the basking platform area :-
the basking area attached to the framework:-
heres both sides of the base frame.the old zoomed basking dock,is going to be the new ramp to get to the basking area:-
covering the wood with non toxic waterproof PVA glue:-
then i siliconed aquarium gravel onto the basking area :-
it took ages to do
this is the basking area with ramp, attached with a plastic hinge, like a door hinge,so it can rise and fall with the water level:-
fixing the sides onto the frame :-
heres the two sides compleated:-
testing for size:-
then OH cut the back panel and attached it.here it is resting on the back part,to give it time to ''settle'' according to OH:-
then OH cut the perspex.i couldnt take pics of that,as i had to help hold it.but its easyer to cut with a jigsaw.and cut plastic smells very funky for some reason
and the finnsihed product!
i stuck aquarium background on the inside.i like to think it as wallpaper for the turts new hi-rise appartment
all i need to do is get the lights on friday, then its ready for its grand opening
. alot of hard work went into this,i honestly didnt think id feel so proud of it.and OH said he coldnt make it..Pfftt.
i hope i explained everything as well as i could, with the pictures..
